How To Write Hubs That Score 100 - Don't Ask ME!
67Today, March 31st, 2009...
is a red-letter, circle-it-on-the-calendar day! Two of my hubs are at 100! Woohoo! This isn't the first time my pennings have scored 100, but the first (that I know of) that two hubs reached the magic number at the same time. Double woohoo!
The blue "down" arrows make me giggle. If 100 is the highest score a hub can get, where else can it go but down? Hello...
Okay, I'm not a total ninny...I "get" that the down arrow also means visits are dropping... So before the scores return to double digits, I hop over to Best Hubs...
Woohoo again! My "Siting A House" hub is the very first one!! Right above one of pgrundy's! Be still my heart! (If only my desk could look like the one in Pam's hub... sigh...) My other 100 hub is farther down the page, but still on Page One! YES!!!
But I have a confession to make...
Before I break an arm patting myself on the back and you upchuck from all my woohooing (which you have every right to do about now), I must tell you...
I haven't the foggiest idea how to write hubs that'll score 100.
With the exception of the "Legalize marijuana" hub, my highest-scoring hubs have been written as "throwaways". Hubs I didn't expect (or ever dream) would be hits.
Case in point: the Sarah Palin hub. It landed in my head during a brief period of consciousness a week into a Cold-From-Haedes, when I was certain I was at death's door and much too sick to write brilliant political satire. After clicking "publish", I crawled back to bed for another week. What you see below - a screen shot taken today - is the lowest it's ever been in relation to my other hubs.
But that will change. It always does. This is - until the Wasilla Barbie totally ceases to be newsworthy - what HubLand calls an "ever green" hub. Hubs about frequently-googled national or world figures, or a topic of general interest, such as health and financial issues, or the environment. I don't have to read a newspaper or watch the news to know when ol' Sarah has made the news again. When she does, the score of that hub rises.
But I'd starve as a write-for-pay freelancer. Writing on a subject picked by a client is not my forte. Nor is having a deadline. Too stressful. Stress gives me writers' block. So I write about what interests me. For the sheer pleasure of putting words to paper. (Okay...and for the "applause" if others happen to enjoy my musings.)
But if you came here looking for secrets to writing "hot" hubs, I don't have them. Sorry. I don't write with Google page rank in mind...most of my hubs don't even have videos or RSS feeds...about all I know about the revered SEO (search engine optimization) is to put keywords from the title in the first paragraph at least two times (three is better). That's it.
Now I'm going to go uncork a bottle of sparkling cider and yell "WOO HOO!!" - again - but really loud this time! Cheers!

Congratulations -- whatever the reason, your hubs deserve all the kudos they get. (Woo Hoo!) -- and a hug thrown in for good measure!
Wow, I'm friends with a genius and never knew it. Okay, well maybe I knew it, but I didn't let it go to my head.
I for one am glad you write about what interests you, because it's all very good. I don't think I'd be able to write on demand.
So, as robie2 says, congrats!
One of the most important things I learned from one of my English teacher was to write about your personal experiences. That's why yours are so darn interesting to me! Congratulations. Have a glass for me--you've earned your turn in the spotlight!
I am definitely happy for you and when you figure out the scoring please let me know, as I have been trying to figure it out for sometime. I had a hub that was unpublished, that recieved a much higher score then the first that I published immediately. LOLOLOL Anyways Congratulations and it is well deserved!!!:)
WTG!!!!! ya done good!
Way to go girl. proud of ya!
Congratulations and one more barf free Woo Hoo.
Congratulations JamaGenee, I bet next time it will be at least three of your hubs on the first page ;)
31st March sticks in my mind every year for a much better reason - it's my birthday (-:
sorry to rain on your parade jama but I will flag both hubs now! party's over! but i'd have to make an alter ego first so you won't suspect me!
congrats! :D
Congrats, JamaGenee! You have every reason to celebrate! I'm sure there will be more to follow.
Happy Birthday, LondonGirl!

Awww darn! Okay, wait give me a sec....
Congrats, JG! You deserve it!
WOW! I wish I had that mind and interest. i bet this one is going to score 100 again.
I get nosebleeds creating a hub. I have to translate my thoughts into English.
Toot away! Maybe I'll start calling you Tootsie! You should enjoy it. Your obviously doing something that works, and you deserve everything you get. Plus your content is always interesting, well written and a pleasure to read. Or maybe there's a big computer that has a crush on your little computer? It could happen!
Congrats, JamaGenee! You're the greatest!
I sure don't know anything about Google page rank and SEO, JamaGenee, but I know a good hub when I see one -- and yours are always good. Personally, I don't put keywords in my title or my lead paragraph (and if Google doesn't like it that's too bad.) Congratulations.
I came by to ask you if you have any suggestion re my wouldbe new avatar? Something that you won't associate with me of course. Thought it wise to ask you first. Thanks :D
100???? if i could get my flippin' service to work on a regular basis i may actually make a consistent 85-90. 100??????//// wtf is that??? Awesome!
You are so wise Jama! You'll never catch me now!!!! *wink*
You do deserve the 100's if anyone does. Congratulations and here is to many more!
Ha! Actually, that's my real name, Jana, so I didn't even notice. The whole thing wouldn't fit when I signed up. Ha! I like it when I get you rattled.
Congrats!!!! I don't think any of us have the secret answer to anything in regards to Hub score, or anything like that. Just be happy to know that it has happened. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I would like to hope that one day, it will. Congrats, again!!
Great hub. The down arrows just mean a drop in traffic to the hub and not the hubscore per sae. I have some high ranked hubs that see arrows up and arrows down a different times through out the week.
Nice job! :)
Cheers and congratulations to you, would love to hit the mark myself some day might be we can cheer again later. .. kudos and good luck for many more..
For dearest J, I send this ode
On milestones made - and earned!
You pile up praise like à la mode;
All doubts are now adjourned.
Today’s the first of April
But you know I won’t be cruel.
You’ve reached a double century, friend,
Which proves you’re no one’s fool.
Grasp with both hands what you deserve,
An author’s life in bold;
And more than that, this special wish:
May all you write be sold.
Jama- I think you know the secret formula and you don't want to share!
Congrats, I've never come close to that.
Congratulations. I have never gotten any of mine that high. Oh well I will keep at it. Many of mine are consistently in the upper 80s. But, my score is always about 95.
Congratulations, JamaGenee! I've always been so proud to be your friend but you've had your light somewhat hidden under a bushel until you began writing these hubs! I always eagerly await your next one! Go, girl!!
You write good hubs that we all enjoy reading. Maybe it is as simple as that.
Good going - I dream of scoring 100 - enjoy that champagne !
Jama, maybe you hit 100 cause you're just that good!
Jama, I'm way late with my congrats, but better late than never! You go, chica!
Hi Jama, congratulations! I doubt any of my hubs will reach those dizzy heights, but I keep hoping! I guess it's all about writing for the love of it at the end of the day, and if other people enjoy the writing (as they clearly do yours) then that's quite a bonus.
Woo Hoo _ I'm late but wow Jama - congrats! Not one but two!!! Calls for many rounds of bubbly :D
Amanda - you doubt? Of course yours will!!
Jama, I love reading your Hubs. You have a way of making me feel like I'm sitting down to warm tea and cozy conversation. So glad you decided to hang your hat out here at HP. Congrats on these, and I'll bet you find lots more hitting that mark in the future.
Congratulations. I guess all you have to do is continue what you have been doing. Keep it up!
Hope this makes it to a hundred too. I think like me (maybe you also feel the same way) when we are enjoying so much here then we don't really care too much for that magical 100. :D
Congrats! And thanks for the very first comment I ever got.
I been trying to figure out the scoring since I started about a week ago. But congrats to you and keep up the good work!!
One of my hubs hit 30!
JamaGenee. Getting to your hubs as time permits. I realize this is old as I am reading it, but I have to say, that if your hubs are reaching 100, it's because of the content. Rich, humorous and full of information.
Belated Congratulations, from a new and envious friend.
I hopped on all your buttons. This hub is very well done. I like your view. Thank you for your honesty on the Marijuana hub. I wrote a hub on pot but it never got that HIGH!
Hmmm March 31. The day before April Fool's Day. But 100 scoring hubs are no joking matter. Congrats.
This is really cool and funny. Thanks for sharing this secret with all of us.:p
But this hub score is 73!
Hubpages is kind of like my Wife when it comes to Hub scoring. Just when I think I know all there is to know about her BAM she hits me with something new! Congrats on your perfect Hub scores:)
Hi, JamaGenee. It's fun how you write your excitement garnering a score of 100 in 2 of your hubs. So cute! (LOL). Am a poor hubber as I have written only 1 hub since I joined a month ago. My 1st ever written hub has started a low score which I couldn't remember now but I was amazed to find out last Friday when it reaches 94 and then was shocked to find out today that it has dropped to 85. Hahaha! What have happened to that? To this effect, I wonder what affects the ups and down of the score of your hubs. Can you then share it with me? Thanks a lot.
Don't sell yourself short-- you have a very conversational writing style that is alluring. Keep writing!

Congrats Jama--maybe this one will be your third 100:-) I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't understand the how and why of hubscores. You go girl!
